About Us

Co-Owners, Cheryl Spana and Ginger Baerenwald

Beginnings

Jim and Cheryl Hailey’s winery vision began to take shape in the spring of 2007 when they planted a half-acre of grapes at their home. They also procured juice, and fermented four varieties in the fall of 2007, to include Chambourcin, Noiret, Chardonel, and Niagara. Many friends willingly taste tested those first wines and thought them to be very good.

Jim and Cheryl moved forward with their passion by developing the winery facilities, and creating wines on site. At one point there were 23 tanks fermenting simultaneously at the winery, and from those tanks, the first nine varieties of Hailey’s Winery wines were produced. Hailey’s Winery opened its doors to begin sharing the handcrafted wines in April 2009, and the dream was finally a reality. Jim was blessed to see his vision come to life before his time with us came to an end in early 2011. With a desire to keep the dream alive, Ginger Baerenwald joined Cheryl in October of 2011.

Today

Together, we are working to continue the mission of Hailey’s Winery to offer a variety of handcrafted wines and an enjoyable experience for each guest in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We want our visitors to feel completely at ease with wine tasting and selection, and we look forward to creating new wines to be enjoyed.

All aspects of our winemaking and production have truly been a family affair: from filling our tanks with juice, to fermentation, to racking, to bottling our wine. As a result, the wine you come to enjoy has been a labor of much love and enjoyment for both of our families. It is our hope that when you visit our winery, you will feel that as well.

Cheers!
